Get to know me....
My name is Erin, and I am someone who loves to connect with people in a real way. I serve clients now as a Health & Wellness Nurse Coach (in practicum), but my past includes a career as a bachelor's prepared registered nurse for 19 years in the acute care hospital setting. My place of employment is a very busy metro area hospital with the second busiest ED in the state of Minnesota. I work in the float pool department, and each day upon arrival to work, I am assigned and dispatched wherever there is a need for a nurse in the hospital.
I serve the inpatient specialty units of • cardiology •cardiovascular & vascular surgery •oncology • gastroenterology • genitourinary • ortho • ortho-trauma • neuro • neuro-trauma • general surgery • observation unit • inpatient mental health • mother-baby post partum • palliative/hospice care • emergency department & also serve as an extra nurse for the house - being called upon to help with random nursing tasks.
Beyond the technical skills and knowledge of being a nurse, my favorite part is connecting with people quickly on a personal level, and not only addressing their physical healing needs, but making sure their spirit and inner person are cared for too. Often, it's not the surgery causing someone to look a bit depressed, it's the feelings they're having about what it means to them, and this blocks their healing and progression more than the incision across their abdomen. Helping people overcome the psychological and mental challenges that come with health and life circumstance is my favorite passion.
There are days I begin my shift helping the new mother breastfeed her newborn, and the dad change the diaper for the first time. Then, later in the day, after being dispatched to yet another unit, my role is to be the comfort and strength for a family, gathered around their loved one, who is preparing to take their last breath.
The experiences of being a nurse have formed me into someone who gets it. Who understands people in all their stages of being - during the good, the bad, and yes the ugly times of life. You aren't too much, your feelings are important, and you're safe to land them here with me so we can work through it. You can expect to experience powerful conversations, life changing moments, motivation, & life plans that center around you and your end goal.
Real life examples that a life coach serves:
- General life stress - do you feel unsettled, stuck, unsure, scared, or frustrated about some component of your life
- Trying to get to that next promotion or stage in life and need to find encouragement from within
- Major life changes - you're in that gray area, or need to adopt a new way of being in order to adapt to the change
- Contemplating something new - there's a new you ready to take form, but you're not sure how to make the transition
- Working through a health diagnosis that requires change - the leap from where you are to where you need to be seems daunting
- Life is busy - you're a busy parent, and the pace of life has you feeling lost in the shuffle
- Grief - maybe you had to separate from someone? They may have passed away, or maybe the separation was your choice, or maybe not? Who are you now? - Let's find out.
- Sensitivity - you're a sensitive person, and the world seems like a lot at times. You replay that social interaction you had last night at the gathering, wondering if you came off too much a certain way. You doubt yourself and your ability to show up in the world the way you want to.
- Something more - you can tell there's something more out there for you and you can't put your finger on it, but the thought of staying where you're at forever scares you even more
- Insert your life circumstance here ___________________ and we can turn it into something new that fills your life instead of draining it.
